Sadly, it seems our ethos hasn’t spread to everyone in the country with a new report from the BHF stating that 11.8million women are classified as physically inactive.

Thats 36% more than men!

The heart health charity links more than 5million deaths worldwide to sedentary lifestyles.

The Physical Inactivity and Sedentary Behaviour Report takes an extensive look at activity levels in the UK and even notes the areas in the country where the issues are at their highest.

The most inactive area was found to be the North West of England while the most active appears to be the South East of England (before you start feeling smug in the capital, that was not including London).

Research shows that working out can reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke by as much as 35%.

So, how much exercise is enough? The government recommends people move for 150 minutes per week. That’s just 21 minutes a day.

This can be walking up the stairs every day, going for a run or trying an at-home-workout.
